The Cyber Security System Engineer will be part of a fast-paced Cybersecurity team and cover broad aspects of House of Shipping Cyber security, supporting the design, implementation and daily management of security infrastructures and tools. The position requires strong technical skills and a well-rounded networking background.
Job role description:
The principal areas of responsibility are as follows:
- Identify security system requirements, design, install, configure, test and manage security solutions such as such as SIEM, SOAR, IDS / IPS, Anti-Virus, EDR, Firewalls, etc.
- Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
- Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
- Monitor security applications and infrastructure performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with different teams for remediation.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time.
- Liaise with vendors and has a strong cooperation with IT teams for problem resolution.
- Prepare and document standard operating procedures.
- Reports to and delivers regular and consistent KPI/KRIs on the operation of security infrastructure.
- Support incident response efforts by analysing logs of system events and utilization of security tools.

Background and experience:
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in network, endpoint & IT security.
- Detailed technical knowledge of database and operating system security.

Solid Cloud experience (Azure / AWS/ Azure Sentinel/ Google Cloud).
- Hands on experience in M365 security administration.
- Hands on experience in email security solutions, DKIM & DMARC.
- Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc
- Experience with network security and networking technologies (OSI network layers, TCP/IP) and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
- Working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments.
- Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols
- Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols.

Strong knowledge of networking topologies and technologies, including firewalling, routing and switching, but also servers (Win and *nix) and PCs.
- Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
- Experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
- Scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
- Industry certifications & qualifications from recognised training providers – ISC2, ISACA, SANS, EC Council, OSCP can be a plus.
