Main tasks and responsibilities:
- As a DG Approver, primarily will verify the DG cargo details against the IMDG Code
- Highlights the rules for acceptance of the DG cargo at the various ports, whether it is the final destination of the cargo or the transshipment ports along the route to the final destination
- Ensure the verification process is completed effectively and quickly, within the agreed timeline
- ALL details in the DG Request must be filled, otherwise, it will just be sent back to the shipper to fill up and this will waste everyone’s time
- As a DG approver is satisfied with the verification, then the request is further passed onto the ship, transit ports, and transshipment ports
- It is also responsible to check, validate and pass the DG Request sent to the DG Approval desk of the carrier (partner’s) operating the ship. (As required)
- As a DG approver - certain commodities, vessels, and routes, the DG Approver might also check the acceptance with the stowage planners
- The DG Approver will record each acceptance or rejection received (from ports, vessel partners, transit ports, and stowage planners) and maintain the records.
- DG Approver may still in some cases require the approval of a DG manager of the shipping line who will then ultimately approve if the DG cargo can be accepted for booking
- As a DG approver, guide the vessel operations to match the cargo details with details received on HAZ documents
- As a DG Approver, inform operations to affix the right stickers and labeling to affix the right stickers and labeling
- The approval or rejection is sent to the booking desk which will in turn advise the client of the acceptance or rejection

Education requirements
3 Years Diploma or Graduate or Post Graduate

Language requirements:
English – English and others if available
Background and experience:
- Must pass the DGM Training Course “Initial and/or Recurrent Air, Land and Sea (Liner)
- Certification in Dangerous Cargo, experience in ,OOG/Flat Rack
- DG cargo handling and Operations with Shipping-Liners, Freight Forwarding and NVOCC Feeders.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure customer satisfaction/deliverance
- Take an active role in internal as well as external customer online meetings together with Sales Specialists/Customer Experience/Operations to clarifications
Competencies and skills:
- Graduate and/or proven experiences in shipping/logistic business in handling DG cargo vessel
- Very good communication skills verbal and in written English
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff and personnel.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, as well as bend, kneel and lift cumbersome and/or heavy objects
- Ability to work prolonged and/or irregular hours as needed
